Day 1: City Tour - Table Mountain

Upon your arrival at Cape Town airport, you will be met by your German-speaking tour guide who will take you to your hotel. After check-in, the sightseeing begins! You will have the opportunity to get a first impression of all the beautiful sights the city has to offer. Amongst others, you will visit the 'Castle of Good Hope', the oldest remaining building in Cape Town, as well as the 'Bo Kaap', the Malay Quarter. Our tour starts with a walk through the 'Company's Garden', from where we head towards the bright colours and lively activity of Green Market Square. After this, if the weather permits, we will take the cable car up Table Mountain. This over 1000m high, landmark offers the most spectacular views of the city and the sea. To conclude the first day, you may choose to be taken to the V&A Waterfront or head home to wind down at the hotel.

Day 2: Peninsula Tour

Discover the natural environment of Cape Town with a trip around the peninsula. Starting off in Clifton, the tour takes you along the scenic Atlantic Coast, past Camps Bay to Hout Bay. From here, we'll make our way to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point via Chapman's Peak Drive, one of the world's most scenic coastal roads. From the tip of Cape Point, which can be reached on foot or via funicular, a breathtaking panoramic view unfolds. On the way back, we'll drive along False Bay and stop at Boulders Beach to visit the penguin colony. For an appropriate end we will spend the rest of the day in the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Day 3: Winelands

Today's tour takes you to Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa. You'll have the opportunity to explore its many historical buildings in the typical Cape Dutch style and also visit the Dutch Reformed Church and the historically rich Dorp Street. A visit to the Village Museum will transport you back to the 18th century. As one of the main attractions, it has a complex of four adjacent historical dwellings from different time periods. After this cultural journey we will continue to Franschoek, South Africa's culinary capital. Here, we will enjoy champagne-tasting and have a little day's break. Finally the tour takes us to Paarl, to end up the classic winelands trip with a wine- and cheese-tasting – as we all know: cheese rounds off a meal nicely.

Day 4: Cape Town - Oudtshoorn

Today we are off to Oudtshoorn, situated in the semi-desert Little Karoo. You drive along the legendary R 62 from Cape Town via Worcester, Robertson, Montagu, Barrydale, Ladismith and Calitzdorp to Oudtshoorn. Next on our agenda is a visit to an ostrich farm. An experienced expert on the subject of the large birds will be sharing all his respective knowledge with you.

Day 5: Oudtshoorn - Knysna

The day starts with a guided tour through the Cango Caves, the biggest cave network on the African continent with an impressive display of stalactites and stalagmites. Accompanied by an experienced tour guide the group will get the opportunity to explore a section of the caves on foot. Afterwards, you will drive along the Quteniqua Pass via George and Wilderness to finally arrive in Knysna, the so called "Pearl of the Garden Route". Knysna is situated in between lush forests and a wide lagoon. Two rocky promontories called 'The Heads' protect the lagoon from the flow of the Indian Ocean. And the oyster festival is an unique event Knysna is renowned for. Perhaps one of the guests would like to give it a try? Visiting the waterfront and the lookout-point on top of the Eastern Head as well as a boat tour are on the agenda too.

Day 6: Knysna - Plettenberg - Tsitsikamma National Park

After breakfast a quick stop in Plettenberg Bay will enable you to enjoy the beautiful view over the bay – also known as 'Baia Formosa'. After that we hopefully get to watch a bungee jumper plummet down its depths at the Bloukrans River bridge! Next you'll have the opportunity to see parts of the Tsitsikamma National Park where we'll take a little walk to Storms River Mouth. 220 km long, the region between Mossel Bay in the East and the Strom Rivers Mouth in the West is considered to be one of the most famous routes in the whole of South Africa. This evening you will enjoy a luxury accomodation close to the Tsitsikamma National Park.

Day 7: Tsitsikamma National Park - Port Elizabeth - Addo

We have to say goodbye to the Garden Route - but hello to Port Elizabeth! A short sightseeing tour will give us an understanding of the city's centre before we are on our way to the Addo Elephant Park. We will find accommodation in close vicinity.

Day 8: Addo Elephant Park - Safari - Addo

In the morning we will take a drive into the Addo Elephant Park. Using our own vehicle, the safari awaits us! There is about 500 elephants in the big park, and surely we will see them! In the afternoon, the next safari is on the agenda: a guided tour in the private game reserve Schotia. Getting back, we will enjoy a typical South African dinner under clear skies (Boma).

Day 9: Addo - Port Elizabeth - Johannesburg - Ohrigstad

In the early morning we catch a plane from Port Elizabeth's airport to Johannesburg. Here we will swop the way of transport and drive by bus or car to Ohrigstad for the next overnights stay. In the afternoon we will go on a 1 and a half hour game drive.

Day 10: Panorama route- Ohrigstad

Today, a scenic car drive along the Panorama route is awaiting us! The route got her name for a reason – here you will find some of the country's most breath-taking landscapes; amongst it: the world's famous Blyde River Canyon. 26 km long, the Canyon is considered to be the third largest worldwide, offering South Africa's beauties at their best; luscious fauna on picturesque rock formations, numerous little areas with diverse, indigenous vegetation. In the course of the centuries, rivers have left deep canyons and waterfalls behind. On top of God's Window, with clear skies you can enjoy an amazing view above the valley. We will also drive to see the unique rock formation "Bourke's Luck Potholes" as well as the three "Rondavels" with their round shape. From there, our trip takes us to Pilgrim's Rest, a small former mining village. Pilgrim's Rest is meanwhile seen as a living museum, bringing the past gold-digging era back to modern life. Later we take a drive via the Robbers-Pass to Ohrigstad.

Day 11: Ohrigstad - Private Wild Reserve

Drive into the private wild reserve. On arrival we will enjoy a delicious lunch before going onto safari. In an open jeep we will explore the Klaserie wild reserve.

Day 12: Kruger National Park

You have to get up early today – the African wild is calling! Around about 6am our morning safari begins. In an open 4x4, a competent ranger will share details of the country's fauna and flora with you. And surely you will be getting more than glances at a few of the BIG 5! After morning safari you have time for breakfast and lunch before we go on our evening safari.

Day 13: Kruger National Park - Johannesburg

Today you will enjoy your last game drive in the early morning. After breakfast and check out we head for Egoli, the City of Gold. We check in to our hotel in Johannesburg, then we will visit South Africa's biggest township: Soweto. Soweto is formed from about 50 small settlements and finally becomes one big suburb. Our program includes the visit of Nelson Mandela's former family home as well as the church Regina Mundi and a view onto the Chris Hani Baragwaneth Hospital. Travelling South Africa without seeing the infamous "South West Township" would simply not be complete!
