Day 1: Cape Town – Mossel Bay
Today we'll drive from Cape Town via Hermanus and Swellendam to Mossel Bay. We'll take Clarens Drive, a scenic coastal road, which offers you a wonderful view of False Bay. Hermanus is ideal for whale watching. From June to December, the Southern Right whales can be spotted here right from the shore, although a boat ride is the best way to get a close up view of the large mammals. Afterwards we head to Swellendam, the third oldest town in South Africa. Here, we'll visit the Drostdy Museum, which offers one a glimpse into the life of the local landdrost (magistrate) in the 18th and 19th century. From here we'll continue on to Mossel Bay.
